Rhenium is considered a technology metal with the second highest melting point among metals and its exceptional strength. It is extremely hard, has a high density and is superconductive at low temperatures. This means it conducts practically without resistance. The mining areas of rhenium are predominantly in North and South America. Due to its occurrence in bound ores, the extraction is very complicated and is only possible with the use of different energy-critical processes. Because of its limited reserves, rhenium is considered rarer than gold and silver. Due to its rarity, we consider it all the more important to recover rhenium from scrap and return it to the value cycle. In this way, we protect rare resources, the flora and fauna of the mining areas, and at the same time reduce our carbon footprint, as our rhenium recycling is significantly more effective than new mining.
