Gallium Scrap Recycling

We are experts in gallium scrap recycling and trading.

You are interested in the topic “Gallium Scrap Recycling” and your search has led you to us? We welcome you to Buss & Buss Spezialmetalle GmbH from Northern Germany.
Our company has set itself the task of recycling rare, special and specialty metals from metal-bearing waste and metal scrap in order to return the recycled material to the economic cycle and thus close the value chain. The recycling of special metals has a positive effect on economic and ecological systems.

At our company headquarters in northern Germany, we recycle special metals such as tantalum, rhenium, hafnium, niobium, zirconium, germanium and even gallium in order to reprocess them. In order to recycle as much of this special metal scrap as possible, we have developed mechanical, chemical and thermal processes over the past three decades that extract these metals from the scrap and offer them again in pure form. After recycling, we recover pure gallium from gallium scrap such as diodes, transistors or other electronic components.

Why is gallium scrap reuse necessary?

Gallium has special properties that make it predestined for certain areas of application, and it is also very rare. Its worldwide occurrence in the earth’s crust is just 0.0008 percent by weight. The recycling of gallium scrap is therefore not only sensible, but extremely necessary. Due to its color and low degree of hardness, gallium resembles aluminum and is also a by-product in aluminum production.

Gallium is used in medical diagnostics, as lamps or as a coating for mirrors, but also in the production of diodes, transistors and other electronic components. By recycling  already used metals, we conserve the remaining scarce resources of gallium and co. and reduce the carbon footprint of the production of special metals.
